Limiting emissions. Control and consistency
In compliance with the corporate “Industrial Environmental Control Program”, environmental monitoring is carried out annually at the facilities of Aktau Oil Field Company, Refinery LLP and monitoring of the state of atmospheric air in nearby settlements (in the Zhanazhol rotational camp, the settlements of Kenkiyak, Shubarshi, Sorkol), as well as in the areas of small rivers Temir, Emba, Atzhaksy. In 2019, work was completed on the installation of two automatic stations for monitoring the state of atmospheric air in the sanitary protection zone of the Zhanazhol and Kenkiyak fields, equipped with the latest equipment for meteorological observations and chemical-analytical control of atmospheric air pollution. An automated stationary system allows the company to continuously monitor air quality. Thus, it is possible to obtain up-to-date information about the state of atmospheric air quality and the level of pollution with priority impurities in measurements. In addition, this makes it possible to store the obtained data and analyze it, comparing it with the concentrations of harmful substances in the atmospheric air for previous periods.
Aktau Oil Field Company, Refinery LLP carries out its activities in the field of managing emissions into the environment on the basis of the limits specified in standard state emission permits. It is interesting to emphasize that atmospheric emissions in 2020 actually amounted to 40,140 tons, with the annual permitted limit being 64,110 tons. According to the line “waste disposal”, the fact for 2020 was 12,194 tons with an annual limit of 16,304 tons. Aktau Oil Field Company, Refinery LLP does not violate the established volumes of emissions into the environment.
According to paragraph 3 of Article 184 of the New Environmental Code, when conducting industrial environmental control, the facility operator is obliged (in relation to category I facilities) to install an automated system for monitoring emissions into the environment at the main stationary sources of emissions. This novelty has been carefully studied by environmental specialists of our company and an agreement has already been drawn up with the contractor for work on pre-project inspection of production facilities and the development of design estimates with the aim of introducing an automatic monitoring system in the future.
